Bernalillo Community Placement Paths

Residential reentry, transition, and community-corrections placements form a supervised community layer. They are different from MDC general population and from an NMCD prison. A person may enter one after prison, as a response to a supervision violation, or under another lawful supervision plan. The precise court order, parole certificate, probation record, and program assignment control the meaning.

The New Mexico Women’s Recovery Academy is the clearest researched Bernalillo example. NMCD identifies it as a community-based residential program for probationers and parolees. The department describes recovery academies as intensive placements for people transitioning from prison or responding to supervision violations as an alternative to incarceration. Residence there indicates structure and oversight, not full release from legal obligations.

Bernalillo County’s Resource Re-entry Center is another local transition resource, but it serves a different role. Research documents it as a reception and navigation pathway for some people leaving MDC. It is not guaranteed for every release, and it is not the same as an NMCD Community Corrections placement. Someone transferred from MDC to DOC remains on a custody path instead.

Confirm a Community Corrections Placement

Start with the legal source that authorized or records the placement. NMCD Probation and Parole supervises parolees and probationers. The court docket identifies sentence terms, probation orders, revocations, and later completion entries. A program can confirm its own public intake or contact process, but it does not replace the state or court record of legal status.

1. Search the probation and parole portion of the NMCD Offender Search by NMCD number when available.
2. Read the status and region rather than assuming a program from the conviction or prior prison.
3. Contact NMCD Region II or the statewide supervision line to verify the public office assignment and legal status.
4. Use the Bernalillo court case number to locate the probation, parole-related, revocation, or discharge entry.
5. If a residential program is named, use its official NMCD listing and confirm current program contact details.
6. Treat a missing result as unresolved until NMCD or the court explains it.

NMCD says probation and parole information updates in real time, but it still directs users to verify legal status and location through the office. The direct application includes Active, Include Inactive, Absconder Only, region, and age controls. Include Inactive can help with a former supervisee. Absconder Only concerns alleged noncompliance and is not proof of discharge.

Bernalillo Placement Status Records

Community placement records must be read by status type. Parole follows release from state prison. Probation can arise from a suspended or deferred sentence without prison release. Pretrial services covers a person released while a criminal case remains pending. Community Corrections can be a structured placement within parole or probation supervision.

An old NMCD Most Wanted notice must not be treated as a live warrant or current placement record. NMCD policy describes absconder conduct as failure to report, an unauthorized residence change, or otherwise becoming unavailable to supervision. The label does not create a new conviction.

Note: A program address does not establish that a named person currently resides there; confirm assignment through the supervising office.

Region II Community Corrections Contacts

Bernalillo County is part of NMCD Probation and Parole Region II. The official Region II page places the regional manager and several Albuquerque district offices at 615 First Street NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. It lists the Albuquerque Response Center at that location, with (505) 841-4910 and (505) 841-4992, and an Intake Reporting Center at 111 Gold Avenue SE, with (505) 252-6855.

Region II publishes specialized units for Community Corrections, intensive supervision, Drug Court, sex-offender supervision, and a hearing officer. Most are listed at First Street, while the Drug Court unit is listed at 830 Fifth Street NW. Do not infer a specialized assignment from an offense title. Ask the public office to confirm which unit handles the record.

Public contacts should not be used to publish private reporting instructions. The person under supervision should follow direct instructions from the assigned officer or program. Others can use the office contact to verify the public agency layer and request appropriate records.

Women’s Recovery Academy Placement

The NMCD Community Corrections page identifies the New Mexico Women’s Recovery Academy at 6000 Isleta Boulevard SW, Albuquerque. It is a community-based residential program for probationers and parolees, not a state prison and not the Bernalillo County jail.

A person placed there can be outside prison while still subject to a structured program and supervision terms. The state result and supervision office establish whether the status is parole, probation, or another lawful assignment. Program residence does not show that the sentence or supervision has ended.

When a record changes, distinguish program completion from legal discharge. A person can complete one placement and continue with another level of supervision. Conversely, a court or NMCD discharge document can end the obligation addressed by that record. Obtain the exact document instead of relying on a location change.

Note: The Women’s Recovery Academy is a documented example, not a default destination for every woman released in Bernalillo County.

Bernalillo Resource Re-entry Center

The Resource Re-entry Center is a county release-transition pathway rather than an NMCD correctional placement. A National Association of Counties account and a county-funded evaluation describe it as a safer reception point and a place for navigation services for people exiting MDC. That evidence supports discussing the RRC as a documented local pathway, not a guaranteed stop.

The useful question is whether the particular MDC release is eligible for the RRC process and where the person’s next confirmed destination lies. A release to DOC, another jail, federal custody, or immigration custody is outside the community-transition path. Exact release hours, weekend practice, and a guaranteed current ride were not confirmed in the official research.

Do not merge the RRC with Community Corrections. The RRC concerns transition from the county jail. NMCD Community Corrections concerns supervised state placements. A person’s MDC booking detail, court order, and NMCD record show which path applies.

The general Bernalillo County release search helps distinguish a true MDC community release from a transfer into the state or federal system.

Community Corrections Release Records

A focused record request should identify the person by NMCD number and name, then name the document sought. Useful supervision-file items can include a parole certificate, probation order, warrant or detainer, Parole Board action, judgment and sentence, plea agreement, and travel permit. Access and redaction rules still apply.

NMCD policy provides an error-correction path for accessible offender-file material. An alleged error is first raised with the classification officer or probation and parole officer and can then follow the department grievance process. That route is more reliable than trying to correct a state record through the county jail.

For a Bernalillo court order, request the document from the court that holds the case. Metropolitan Court handles many misdemeanor and early felony matters. Once a felony is indicted or bound over, the Second Judicial District becomes the continuing court. The case number connects the supervision record to the right clerk.

A program exit record and a court discharge are not substitutes for each other. Ask NMCD for the supervision or placement document and the court for the signed order. If one source shows completion while another still shows active supervision, preserve both dates and seek clarification from Region II rather than choosing the more convenient result.

New Mexico’s Inspection of Public Records Act provides a procedure for public records subject to exemptions. Section 14-2-8 requires a timing explanation when inspection is not provided within three business days, but it does not make every supervision or program record public. Sealed, expunged, confidential, and otherwise protected material may be withheld or redacted.
